Honey
Honey in its purest form is an elixir to life. It is natures gift to humanity that contains the essence of immortality, or so it was believed by many in ancient civilization.
Perhaps it is one of the million reasons that the oldest and advance culture of the past, especially the Egyptians used it in their concoctions. It was so potent that Cleopatra, the princess of beauty and mother of cosmetology of the ancient civilization used it amongst many of her formulation. She was know to bath in milk and honey.

Honey in its purest form is an elixir of life. It is the oldest most coveted commodity. It is produced in limited supply by honeybees and only on certain months with in a year. Honey can only be produced during honeyflow. Honey flow are the months when majority of the flowering & fruit bearing plants bloom during each year. beyond this point no honey are produced by the honeybees.
Beware!!! Beware!!! Beware!!!
Due to limited availability, and at the back of great demand, many local manufacturing firm, scrupulous traders, and mal-practitioners in the art of beekeeping formulate fake honey if not adulterate honey, respectively, and labeled it as "pure" and/or "rare" to satisfy the unsuspecting if not ignorant public consumer. Worst, they are being displayed in malls and supermarket in the Philippines, side by side with the "authentically" pure honey!!!
So!!! In the Philippines, there exist the:
Authentic Pure Honey
- produce and sold be reputable & certified beekeepers"
Artificially Manufactured Honey
- sold by manufacturing firm who labeled it as "pure","natural" and even "rare"
Adulterated Honey- sold by uneducate "bee-havers" (locally know as "man-pupuhag")
The BIG question is how can we single out or know the authentic pure honey apart from the artificially manufactured & adulterated one??? This is quit difficult if you have not tasted an authentically pure honey.
There are various local story spread by local con-artist in the honey faking industry. Amongst this most popular one is:
-if a match stick dip in honey lights up when struck, the honey is pure (this is b.s. as the matchstick will light even if dip is any liquid, based on our test)
